Mark B. Newbauer of Mike the Pike Productions Inc. sent along word that his company has optioned the rights to THE SKIN TRADE, a werewolf novella by celebrated science-fiction writer George R.R. Martin. The story originally appeared in the horror anthology NIGHT VISIONS 5, first published in 1988 and reissued in paperback two years later under the TRADE title. (more…)

Kalamazoo Dreams is based on a novel by John R. Kouris, whose colorful background includes his work as Executive Director of the Defense Research Institute of America and over 20 years as a Big 10 Football Referee.

‘Kalamazoo Dreams’ is about a college freshman barely holding onto his football scholarship under threats from his verbally abusive father while trying to maintain a long distance relationship with his promiscuous girlfriend, inadvertently falling in love for the first time with another girl who belongs to a frat brother with a mean streak– all the while fear hangs over he and his newfound friends that they may be called to leave their rites of passage early for a baptism by fire on the frontline in the Vietnam War.

It is a powerful, touching and often hilarious look at college life in the Midwest during a tumultuous era with themes of friendship, loyalty, love, hate and freedom.

A teen homage to Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Children of the Night is a wickedly fun thriller. Drake Goodman, a lonely goth, in his attempts to recruit members for his ’sleeper cell’, discovers a secret that will perpetuate his kind forever: Mina Merklovsky, a Born-Again Virgin with the power to turn “spoiled” humans back to their virginal state.

The clock is ticking as he works against a lethal deadline put upon him by Nigel, the unforgiving leader of the Eternal Legacy of Blood; This on top of the fact that Mina is having a hard time falling out of love with her recently ex-ed boyfriend, Jonathan Keller, who Drake decides must be taken out of the equation-permanently.

His devious plot faces resistance from his top (and only) recruit, Ren Fields, star quarterback for the high school football team; not far behind is Sheriff Mitchell Steer, hell-bent on the re-election who will stop at nothing to find the individual(s) responsible for the recent outbreak of vandalism and missing domesticated animals in this small town.

The night culminates at a Halloween house party in which the undead become the unwanted guests of honor and all bets are off as the vampires face the mortals in a bloody melee in which jonathan, Mina and their friends must do anything they can to make it out alive.
